RIFF proudly presents a special screening of György Fehér's Szürkület (Twilight) from 1990, tonight in Háskólabíó Theater at 20:00. Before the screening, Hungarian filmmaker Benedek Fliegauf, himself presented as Emerging Master at this edition of RIFF, will discuss the film and elaborat on how it has influenced him.

Szürkület is a chilling crime story. Detectives are alarmed by a third young girl’s murder. All were committed in a similar manner. The suspect is a peddler, who had had an affair with a child under age. The peddler commits suicide during the investigation. The inspector considers the case closed but a young detective who was dismissed from the police continues searching.

Benedek Fliegauf is a Hungarian director born in 1974, also involved in sound design and set design. Living in Budapest, he is a leading figure of the new generation of Hungarian filmmakers. Fliegauf is a self-made man who never attended film school. Forest was his first feature, a nearly no-budget film, but its international success opened the way to bigger productions, such as Dealer. His latest film is Womb, a futuristic love story, and Fliegauf’s English language debut.
