Reykjavik International Film Festival announces a cool
collaboration with Couch Fest Films. The aim? To invite movie lovers into
private homes to enjoy several programs of short films in an intimate and
unassuming environment on Saturday, September 24th, 2011.
RIFF has previously organized movie screenings in private
residences as a part of the festival and some exciting news on this year's event will be released shortly. This year, Couch Fest Films is taking this approach to the next level,
as they proudly announce the 4th annual Couch Fest Film Festival to be held in
residential homes around Reykjavík, Iceland.
Couch Fest Films is a traveling festival of sorts:
moviegoers enjoy several programs of short films presented in residents' living
rooms. The festival aims to build kinship among movie lovers in a comfortable
and cozy setting, and to share exciting new works of short film. The festival,
founded in 2008, has built a passionate following thanks to its reliably high
quality, entertaining film programs, and its open-minded "do it yourself"
ethic.
On Saturday, September 24th, 2011, each host home
participating in Couch Fest Films in Reykjavík and around the globe will
present a unique program of short movies that play on the hour from 11am-7pm.
Festivalgoers are welcome to visit all or as many of the homes as they like.
In Reykjavík, the houses will be conveniently located near
each other to encourage walking and biking, and allow the curious to sample
several programs during the day. A short intermission in the middle of each
program will allow viewers to discuss the films and socialize. Participants
will have the opportunity to interact, share and discover new films and fellow
lovers of film.
Couch Fest Films was founded by Seattle filmmaker Craig
Downing in 2008 with the goal of sharing the love of film and video in an
unpretentious environment. Says Downing, "I'm excited to provide others
the chance to watch grand short films whilst sitting on their rump in living
rooms all over the world! What better way to get out and meet your neighbors?"
