RIFF 2011 says “Thank you”!

The Eighth edition of the Reykjavik International Film Festival ended October 2nd. While the organizers of festival hope that RIFF 2011 had something for everyone we would like to thank you for attending the festival in record numbers this year. The previous attendance record, from 2010, was bettered by almost 2000 and the total for 2011 clocks in at almost 27.000 guests.
This massive turnout indicates that moviegoers in Reykjavik related to this year’s program and clearly spurs us on, forward on the same path. RIFF will thus stick steadfastly to its goal and aim: to present a bit of the best that international cinema has on offer each year and keep focusing on quality independent cinema and new, emerging talent.
Thus, this remains our guiding light when the programme for RIFF 2012 starts taking shape. Our Ninth edition takes place September 27th – October 7th.

Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.

We believe that by building up an innovative film festival in Reykjavik, our foreign guests will have a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting cultural event, as well as visiting a country renowned for its natural wonders and dynamic culture.
