Open for applications - the RIFF Talent Lab

The main objective of the festival’s Transatlantic Talent Lab is to serve as a meeting place for young filmmakers both from Europe and America. The threefold motto of the festival – Innovation, Networking, Dialogue – is perfectly manifested in the activities of the Talent Lab: it highlights and promotes the innovative works of young filmmakers, facilitates the necessary industry networking they need to engage in to learn and to promote their works to buyers and distributors, and gives them an opportunity to participate in a dialogue with young people from across the Atlantic, and exchange in ideas and thoughts.

RIFF’s Talent Lab was held for the fifth time in 2010. Among the lecturers were Jim Jarmusch, Peter Wintonick, BAFTA-winning editior and director Valdís Óskarsdóttir and Cameron Bailey, as the young filmmakers were pitching their next projects and competing for the Golden Egg, RIFF’s encouragement award.

Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.

We believe that by building up an innovative film festival in Reykjavik, our foreign guests will have a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting cultural event, as well as visiting a country renowned for its natural wonders and dynamic culture.
