Noam Chomsky speaks live at RIFF today!

It is with great pleasure that RIFF presents a live video-conference with Noam Chomsky. Chomsky is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, and political activist, and will address the audience live from his hometown of Cambridge, Massachusetts, at Háskólabíó Cinema at 17:00.

In his video-conference in Reykjavik, in light of the near collapse of the western economic system, Chomsky will address the questions: where can we find hope, and what are the alternatives we should be building? Also, what can Iceland learn from what happened? He will also discuss the responsibility of intellectuals, and additionally, environmental issues will be addressed.

At the same opportunity, panel talks will take place regarding the political, economical and social crises Iceland has suffered since the crash of October 2008.

Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.

We believe that by building up an innovative film festival in Reykjavik, our foreign guests will have a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting cultural event, as well as visiting a country renowned for its natural wonders and dynamic culture.
