Let England Shake confirmed for screenings at RIFF 2011

Confirmed for the category of music related films at RIFF 2011 is Let England Shake. The film, based on PJ Harvey's critically acclaimed album released earlier this year, is a collage of 12 visual vignettes, each corresponding to a certain song on the album.

Harvey's album revolves around the horrors of war and the main inspiration is drawn from World War 1. To create the twelve visual sequences, Harvey contacted photo-journalist Seamus Murphy, a seasoned photographer of war-torn areas around the world. Even if Let England Shake is the first task of this kind for him to accept, with lyrics accounting, misery, the hardship of trench warfare and death among other subjects and Mr Murphy himself no stranger to the cruelties of military conflict, the appointment is fitting enough.

Reykjavik International Film Festival takes place from September 22nd to October 2nd.

Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.
