A concert with Jóhann Jóhannsson at RIFF

RIFF is very proud to present, in cooperation with 12 Tonar record label, a concert with Jóhann Jóhannsson at the amazing Hallgrímskirkja-church on October 1st. This will be Jóhann's first concert in his home country for four years, as he has been very busy playing his music all over the world since his last visit to Iceland.

Jóhann will have a band of five with him at the concert, and together they will play music from three of Jóhanns albums, Englabörn, Fordlandia and IBM 1401, a User´s Manual. Additionally, Jóhann will play new, unpublished music at the concert.

In addition to the music, visuals from Magnús Helgason will be screened at the concert. Magnús has made visuals specially for Jóhann's music, which have been screened at Jóhann's concerts around the world.

Jóhann's last album, And in the endless pause there came the sound of bees, came out at 12 Tónar in April, and at Type label around the world. The album features music from the film Varmints which was nominated for the best short animation at the BAFTA-awards in 2009. The music itself has received prized at film festivals, both in America and Japan.

Jóhann's previous albums have been praised by critics from around the world, among them the album Fordlandia which made it to several top 10 lists of the best albums of 2008.

Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.

We believe that by building up an innovative film festival in Reykjavik, our foreign guests will have a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting cultural event, as well as visiting a country renowned for its natural wonders and dynamic culture.
