What if your community had to decide whether to leave its homeland forever and there was no help available? This is the reality for the culturally unique Polynesian community of Takuu, a tiny low-lying atoll in the South Western Pacific. As a terrifying tidal flood rips through their already damaged community, the Takuu people experience the devastating effects of climate change first hand. In this verite-style film, three intrepid characters—Teloo, Endar and Satty—invite us into their lives and their culture and show us first hand the human impact of an environmental crisis. Should they make the move to an uncertain future in the city, or to stay on Takuu and fight for a different, but equally uncertain, outcome?

We have all the information you need to book your trip.
Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) was founded in 2004 by a group of film enthusiasts and professionals with the goal of creating an annual international film festival in Reykjavik.

The aim is to establish a major film event to enrich and enliven the local film culture, but moreover, to become an international attraction.

We believe that by building up an innovative film festival in Reykjavik, our foreign guests will have a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting cultural event, as well as visiting a country renowned for its natural wonders and dynamic culture.
Updates on the program will be published here.
